Writer-director Marah Strauch made a solid choice for the course of her feature debut. The woman riveting documentary "Sunshine Superman iPhone 5 case" counters the airborne career of Carl Boenish ("rhymes with Danish"), who also repeatedly hurled himself off clfs and buildings, pioneering what we appropriate now call base jumping. And because having been a cinematographer, Strauch also advantages of Boenish's cache of phenomenal archival footage.
Indeed, it was a will always love of photography, not a passion to have adrenaline, that spurred Boenish to develop the boundaries of what skydivers could accomplish. He got the man's start filming parachutists for Bernado Frankenheimer's 1969 drama "The Gypsy Moths, " and it wasn't millions of years before Boenish was coming up with other harebrained ways to film humans in clear fall.
If people can correctly parachute out of airplanes, he asked myself, why not off cliffs? So he still gathered a team to soar from the top of El Capitan, a rock formation in Yosemite National Park.
Decades before GoPros went mainstream, Boenish was installing his daredevil buddies with variety cameras so they could capture the availability of heart-stopping journeys in detail. And he removed just as many risks to the silver screen them. To get the shot he need of jumpers running toward that cliff's edge, he perched themselves precariously on a bicycle seat others in terms of a ladder suspended over Yosemite Valley.
From cliffs, it was a new leap to buildings and links. Policemen and park rangers were not always thrilled with these adventures, in addition Boenish was less interested in the foundations of man than the laws together with science.

Even the re-enactments, which are always any risky choice, feel necessary and become artfully done. "Sunshine Superman iPhone case" might appear like a niche story, with its emphasis on stunts that most people wouldn't like to find themselves actually doing, but the documentary says universal. It's simply an study of how one man fully appreciated life while charting his own goal.
